How to Oil Trombone Slides
How to Oil or Lube Trombone Slides
Ultra-Pure Trombone Slide Lube makes oiling your trombone slide
easy. Carefully pull off the outer slide and place it gently
on a table or in your case. Wipe the inner slides with the
Ultra-Pure Extra-Large Microfiber Polishing Cloth or a soft cloth.
Be very careful not to pull the inner slides at an angle as they
can be moved out of alignment.
Cover the cleaning rod with a soft cloth (flannel, cheesecloth,
etc.) to swab the outer slide. Make sure the tip and the whole rod
is covered by cloth so it cannot dent or scratch the outer slide
when you are swabbing. Be careful not to push the rod too
hard. Just swab it in and out a few times per slide.
Put the outer slide back onto the inner slides and put a few
drops of Ultra-Pure Trombone Slide Lube on the stockings -
in seventh position where the inner slides get larger. Work it
in by moving the slide in and out several times. If it feels
too light on your slide, put another few drops on the upper part,
around second position. Work it in again. You can mist
the slide with a little water spray if you wish.
If your slide begins to feel slow or dry, you can add a drop or
two of Ultra-Pure Trombone Slide Lube to each inner slide and it
will feel great again. After a few days, you should do the
complete wipe/swab and re-application.
